Jaulon “JJ” Clavo was a leader amongst his peers. He was the first to accept the Sober Youth pledge and commit to sobriety until his 21st birthday. He was a well-loved football player at Grant High School, robbed of his future on November 13, 2015 when he was shot by a gang member unaware of the value of human life.
In his short 17 years, JJ created a legacy that many people live their whole lives hoping to achieve. He was an outstanding athlete, student, friend, and role model. He was a younger brother and cherished son. Dr. Nicole Clavo turned her pain into purpose by honoring her son JJ and keeping his name alive though this award.
